Diesel at Dalegarth

Having arrived at the Ravenglass & Eskdale's Dalegarth terminal over the mountain pass (an experience in itself!!) I found this diesel hauled train in the station.

Train at Dalegarth

The 15" gauge coaches look to have a reasonable amount of space in them, there wasn't time for a ride to try them unfortunately.

River Mite's cab

Next arrival was hauled by a steam loco, River Irt.

After detaching from the train she was turned ready for the return.

Ready for the return run

Run round and ready to return to Ravenglass.

Ready to return

Her train was formed of carriages of a different design.

River Irt arriving

Before River Irt could depart River Mite arrived with another train, seen here entering the station, which is in a beautiful location.

River Mite leaving Dalegarth

River Irt then left on her way down the valley.
